Lightfusion achieves FDA clearance
Vitage LED is thrilled to announce that the FDA has cleared Lightfusion as a Class 2 medical device suitable for the treatment of periorbital wrinkles. Lightfusion is an advanced, non-invasive LED photofacial that harnesses light energy to alter biological activity in the skin for a younger looking, healthier complexion. More specifically, the unique next-generation Lightfusion device delivers different wavelengths of light to help promote collagen and elastin synthesis; improve the blood flow; and eliminate toxins. It can be used as a stand-alone, one-off facial, as part of a course, or as a complement to enhance and accelerate other treatments such as microdermabrasion, peels, rollering and microneedling.
The FDA endorsement is a significant milestone ahead of Lightfusion’s launch into the USA, in partnership with distributors Silhouette Tone LLC and Refine LLC. The USA is the world’s biggest market for aesthetics, and represents extensive growth potential within both the salon/therapist and aesthetic doctor sectors. Vitage LED is hugely excited by the business opportunities represented by the USA launch of Lightfusion, and is already working on developing its pipeline of products to further expand its successful treatment portfolio.

How LED Light Therapy Works
Light therapy is not entirely understood. Scientists have encountered issues when attempting to explain the benefits that LED therapy has on the skin and the treatment has become fairly controversial as a result.
Low intensity light therapy is commonly referred to as “photobiomodulation” and uses light in the far-red to near infrared (NIR) region. Over the past 30 years the positive clinical results and the application for these light ranges have expanded massively. Originally used in the treatment of infected ishemic or hypoxic wounds, it has made the transition to be used to improve general skin health and quality. Light therapy is even successful in reversing the signs of skin ageing.
At a cellular level photobiomodulution creates its results by improving the energy metabolism of the mitochondria. This might sound complicated but it basically means that it stimulates the body’s own growth and repair procedures. In the same way it can aid the healing of wounds, it encourages the skin to renew and revitalise itself p880kzm.
There has been a measured improvement in the Keratinocycte growth factor (KGF), transforming growth factor (TGF) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) after the use of devices such as lightfusion™. All of which are naturally high in young skin.
With lightfusion™ we are proud to have opened up a previously expensive, luxury treatment to be available at a price that anyone can afford.

Is LED Therapy safe?
LED Light therapy has been used for over 30 years and was initially utilised for the treatment of wounds. It encourages the body to increase its natural healing rate and has undergone multiple successful clinical studies demonstrating its benefits to the body. You can find the clinical study for the lightfusion™ unit on the Clinical Studies page.
The technology that is used for skin rejuvenation has been commercially available since 1998 with the Omnilux™ Light Therapy device. lightfusion™ is a natural progression of this as the components have become cheaper and smaller, making it possible for the same powerful technology to be put into a more cost-effective, commercially viable unit. This opens up light therapy to a whole new world of business.
The lightfusion™ unit is designed to produce only the specific frequency of light that the skin responds to positively and is designed to automatically turn off once the minimum effective dose is provided.
In conclusion there is no risk from having a photofacial using the lightfusion™ device. It has been tested to an international standard demonstrating its safety.

lightfusion™ at Olympia Beauty
lightfusion™ has been demonstrated at multiple exhibitions all over the world. Recently we attended Olympia Beauty, one of the UK’s largest beauty trade events that recently celebrated its 11th anniversary at Olympia Grand.
Despite having to compete with the grand final of the Nailympics, the demonstration of the lightfusion™ machine still managed to draw an impressive crowd.
Our volunteer, Julie, was first given protection for her hair before Sharon Cass from Skinbrands applied the Vitage® Cleanse treatment. After this she applied the Vitage® Hydrogel Mask (seen above), which was left on for just 5 minutes before the lightfusion™ mask was applied to the face.
The lightfusion™ treatment lasted 10 minutes, after which the Hydrogel mask was removed. A Vitage® Hydro-Active Infusion was applied to further hydrate the skin.
“My experience of the process was very relaxing, the mask felt cool and refreshing, the device was comfortable and when it was turned on I hardly noticed the difference at all,” Julie commented on the treatment. “Straight after the treatment my skin felt really soft and supple. For the next few days I noticed my skin was still radiant and glowing.”
This was a prototype machine and the production version will be made out of surgical foam. The treatment went down really well with many clients at the show.
